Why commission cannot move the rankings
This is a claim every affiliate site makes, so here is the mechanism rather than the assurance.
The calculator ranks plans by effective monthly cost, computed from published prices. The function that does the ranking is given four things: prices, subscriber and send allowances, plan features, and our published editorial scores. Affiliate status is not one of its inputs, and the affiliate records are never read from it. A provider that paid us more would appear in exactly the same position, because nothing in the sort can tell the difference.
Worth being blunt about what that looks like in practice, because one of the providers we earn from currently ranks first. Here is the actual result at 5,000 subscribers and 50,000 emails a month, computed live from the same data the calculator runs on:

Kit is top because its cheapest qualifying plan costs £0 at that list size. That is a published price you can check against the provider in about ten seconds, and it held the same position before we had any relationship with it. The lowest-placed provider we earn from is Drip at number 10, with 3 platforms that pay us nothing ranked above it. If commission moved this table, that would not happen.
What commission does affect is whether a link carries tracking, which is why the table above exists. It cannot affect which provider is at the top of a table, which one wins an award, or which comparison pages we publish.
We also do not accept payment for reviews, for inclusion, or for a better score, and no provider on this site has been given advance sight of what we have written about them.
What an affiliate link costs you
Nothing. Affiliate commission is paid by the provider out of its own margin; you pay the same price you would pay going direct. If a provider ever offered a rate available only through our link, we would say so on the page and treat it as a discount, not as a reason to rank them higher.
Outbound links are marked rel="sponsored nofollow" whether or not they are monetised, and all of them route through our own redirect so we can count clicks without a third-party tracking script.
